Finally!

I am a volunteer, for reals now!
I passed my LPI on Tuesday. I scored a little worse than I did during the mock, but Dale, my Country Director (CD–I really do need to make a list of the abbreviations and the Chichewa I use regularly) was really impressed that I did as well as I did, all things considered. He’s about the millionth person to mention that I must be really good at languages, which I never thought I was because I compare myself to people like my Aunt Andrea and Sylvie who speak more languages better than I do. Also, I’m a little lazy and so don’t pick up languages as fast as I probably could.
Ironically, instead of the number of health 2007-9 volunteers going up today we stayed the same because Rosy went home today. Her mom needs surgery, but she said something to the effect of being glad that she had an external excuse to do something she was thinking about doing anyway. Rosy is the second from our class to ET (early terminate–see what I mean about needing to do a reference page?). Anna, my roomie throughout training until I had the audacity to get my butt sent to South Africa, went home while I was in SA. It makes me sad because I’m going to miss both of them, but especially Anna, but I think they have made decisions that make them happy, and so I’m glad that they were able to do what’s best for them. It can be really hard not to try to struggle through to meet expectations even when you’re not sure that you want to be beholden to those expectations. It can be really brave to do what you need to do when you feel like it isn’t what you should do.
Anyway, I have pictures that I need to doctor before I put them up on my flickr page. But I will probably going to get around to that tomorrow. today I’m going to make oatmeal/broken chocolate bar cookies (there are no chocolate chips here), snickerdoodles, and if Shoprite or the azungu mall has some yeast, challah.
This is because I am bored and I have other people to eat the spoils. All around a good thing.

Congrats!
And now I want someone to cook for me. *drool*
Congratulations on officially swearing in!
It is sad that Rosey and Anna are gone, even though I know that you told me such a high percentage end up “ET”ing. I suppose it just proves that statistics don’t mean anything until you apply real life to them.
“It can be really brave to do what you need to do when you feel like it isn’t what you should do.”
Amen.
Congratulations!
Because of my paycheck snafu, I have not yet had the money to send you your candy, but I should be able to take case of that Monday.
I got your letter yesterday, but haven’t had time to read it yet. Poo.
You can always get yeast at Foodworth’s, at Bisnowaty Filling Station.
I’m going to make the oatmeal chocolate chunk cookies today because I figured 4 dozen snickerdoodles yesterday was enough. But the challah turned out extra extremely awesome, and so I think I’m going to make another loaf today or tomorrow (Found yeast at the 4th store I went to, Argos). Thanks to Africa heat, bread dough raises WAY easier here tan at home.
