vacation

Posted By on March 20, 2008

The school is closing for the easter holiday, and the campus director said our department could close as long as we had all the work done for the rest of the block before tomorrow. So, last weekend and this week I wrote 6 lectures, marked 72 short papers on atelectasis and 72 exam questions. The nice thing is that I can go into the vacation without any work (except some research I’m supposed to do for Namikango Orphan Care and the budget I’m supposed to write for the school’s procedure manual so we can get started on that when the students go back into clinicals. Geez I sound like a workaholic. At least Derek is worse than I am so I can always deny my overworking tendencies by comparing myself to him).

The bad thing is I was going to use this time to get SCUBA certified on the cheap, but if you have asthma you need a doctor’s approval and Dr. Max won’t give it to me because there isn’t good emergency medical services close enough to the lake. So now I don’t know what I’m going to do. I’m booked for the next week, but then have another 1.5 weeks off, and I have to decide where I’m going.

This weekend is Blantyre and cooking for easter, dancing saturday (gotta make up for the lack of norwes in my life ): ), and this malawi-U.S. exchange alumni dinner thing on tuesday. Then Bryce and his buddy are staying at my house for a night, and then . . . . Hopefully I figure it out soon.

The upshot is, I’m not going to be online much if at all for the next two and a half weeks. But I anticipate writing a fair amount, so hopefully there’ll be something for me to share when I get back, even if it’s just introspective navel-gazing.

If anything happens while I’m gone that I should know about, call, text, or email me.

Sarah~ A little alarmed to hear you’re going in for surgery. I hope it’s minor and that you sail through it without problems or angst. I’ll be thinking about you and sending you good energy. Love, Gini (and tell your wonderful munchkins the Mommy Monster sends her love to them too. :-)

Sorry to leave this here. I can NOT find your number to save my life.

At any rate, I lived! Well, most of me. Bleh.

Not to get too cryptic, but also not to share my personal health issues too much right here, they found some issues. I’ll be following up on Monday with biopsy results and plans for the next surgery to fix another problem.

wee!

Gotta go lay down do that recovery thing.

Love you,
Sarah
