Brijeti playingAzungu cause spontaneous gigglesI went back to NOC a while ago to do a vertical garden training with the guardians and the home health volunteers.

The road to Namikango

While I was there, we reviewed weighing and charting and I took the pictures I didn’t get before because of the failure to bring my camera. So this post will be mostly pictures to make up for that.

As per usual, I could tell that the Malawians were shocked that I was willing to get my hands dirty (you should see the

reaction when I come out of my garden with dirt up to my wrists—you’d think they’d never seen a mzungu who does their own gardening. Oh wait, they probably haven’t.).

Also as per usual, the fact that I am willing to get my hands dirty goes a long way to making them more enthusiastic about trying out what I’m teaching. The guardians were pretty excited, although I think they were mostly excited about me taking pictures. It’s pretty funny watching grown people jostle to get into the picture. And then, when you show them what the picture looks like: hysterical laughter all around.
