My non-travelling life

Lectures start up next week again. I’ve got 4 topics, but I did 2 of them last year and one of the other 2 is related to one that I did last year. For the second years, I have two topics coming up, but I’ve done both of them before, so it shouldn’t be too bad.
I haven’t heard back from NOC’s donor since I sent him the report and proposed budget on 1 January. I just shot him another email. I’m trying to figure out if I can get to NOC next week, because after that I’m going to be far too busy for about a month and a half.
Michelle helps out with some people working for Baylor up in Mzuzu. We’ve got one of their doctors down here, and he says we can chat in April about me helping out until I leave. Hopefully I’ll then be replaced and it’ll be something the person following me can do, too. There are outreach Under-5 clinics out in the villages and the Baylor staff does trainings for the Health Surveillance Assistants there. I’ve been trying to get involved in this for the last 6 months at least, but there keep on being communication break downs.
I’ve completed coding the first skill in my skills manual, but then I did something to the css stylesheet and stupidly don’t have a back up, and now the title bar is missing. So, I’ve put it aside for a few days until I can be a little more clearheaded about it. It is a pain in the tuchas to code stuff in frigging notepad, just in case you were wondering.
And, in the most day-to-day difference in my life:My friend Honester (pronounced Honesta) moved in on Sunday. She’s 19 and in Form 4 and was one of Derek’s neighbours back in Sadzi. Derek’s sponsoring her at Malindi secondary school and she used to live at his house with Dinah and Henry. But they don’t live their and for a couple of cultural reasons* we decided it is better for her to be at my house. We offered her Kris’ house, too, which is closer to school and family and she wouldn’t have to move out until after she takes her MSCEs, but she picked mine.
*Issue #1: A teenage girl living in the compound with an adult male, with no one else staying there regularly. Issue #2, which is more important to Honi: Derek’s gone a lot and she was getting really lonely.
