Went to Kubota gardens with my mom today. On one of the streams there was this icky, vaguely toxic-mold looking yellowy brown algae growing. I told my mom she should drink the water, but she told me to go first. I reminded her how, when we were in Pretoria, she double dog dared me to touch an electric fence. When I told her to go first, she said that wasn’t possible because her challenge had already been issued and must be responded to before I could make my own.
My mom, with her either fickle or senile memory (take your pick) said we never had such a conversation and if we had, which we didn’t, it certainly wouldn’t apply to this situation, and anyway she wasn’t admitting to anything.
I went to the same park with Shannon and Moira yesterday, and I saw their monthly haiku on the notice board. I decided to memorize it today so I could write it down. I failed. Mama took a picture of it so my fickle or senile memory wouldn’t be a hindrance, but I’m too lazy to go look. So, this is my best guess at it:
The Pine tree:
Not interested
in cherry blossoms
Plus, I gotta start getting ready to go to Yakima tomorrow morning.

You got the haiku right – no capitals.
I miss you immensely.
