About Me
I am no longer a Peace Corps volunteer in Malawi. I will be a student at the University of Washington in the Department of Global Health, starting in the fall (that’s 2010, as I am positive I will forget to update this in any sort of reasonable manner). In the meantime, I’m volunteering my time for various projects and trying to get some traveling in.

Wonderful wonderful site my darling daughter.
I forgot to tell you – Ken Griffey Junior is coming home to Seattle. Mamma is excited. Daddy is not. Mariners have already stocked up on Griffey #24 jerseys – and have sold them out! I know you have something to say about this.
Happy Belated Birthday sweetie,
Love you,
A Janet
I don’t know what to think. I mean, he gets injured a lot and he’s getting old. So, do I think it’s a good thing for the Mariners? Probably not. Am I excited anyway? You betcha!
So Sika, I’m drinking a cup of my favorite java roasted by my neighbor a farm or two up river. The beans come from Malawi in big gunny bags. If you pass any of the hillsides where this grows snap a few pictures.
hello! love your blog, its beautiful. i’m headed to malawi in may as an RN, or “health personal trainer” fancy title. what should i prepare for? any suggestions would be helpful. and that link with the packing list is helpful – which do you disagree with. packing is the hardest right now, i’m starting early!
thanks,
marla
It was too much for a comments page, so I wrote you an email
What does it mean, “Because they’re burning bricks”?
Stumbled onto your blog and read it (mostly all) but couldn’t find what that alluded to.
- Atlanta Georgia Friend Who Couldn’t Previously Find Malawi on a Map
You can find the (brief) story here: http:/burningbricks.firesika.com/2008/11/a-note-on-my-new-journal-title/
That is an evil trick!
Here I am, up at 3am, making a sunflower-seed-butter-and-jelly sammich, checking email, innocently clicking left and right on your three (3) links to your note-on-your-new- journal-title… nada. Nothing but a frowny face.
So Im left with either finishing the sammich and googling it, or going to bed ignorant.
Well, I’m living in Georgia,
so,
Good Night!
PS: Thanks for replying though! I feel special that electricity was used on me!
Cindy – I just clicked on it and ta da, it came up. If you haven’t already, try again.
Dear Sika:
I like your site and see that we have the same architecture. I am a travel photograper and a no-mind when it comes to both PCs and code. They say code is poetry, but I don’t believe it!
My question, which I am still trying to find an answer to, is how on earth do I upload (and where) various photos for the header image.
I would love it if you could tell me how to do this. By the way, I like your site and love the post from your mother or father!
I have my own travel stock photography website where I would draw the images: http://www.travelstock.org
Thanks in advance Sika.
Sincerely, Spencer Wynn
Hi Sika,
Muli bwanji? I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Zomba from 2001-2003. I lived for one year in Namasalima and then moved to the Zomba town, where I worked at the DHO. I’d love to be in touch with you and to ask you a few questions, if that would be ok?
I’m now working for USAID in India as a health officer.
All the best to you,
Aaron
